If his streaming stats are any indication — he was the most-streamed artist in the U.S. last year, after all — most music fans will probably react to the announcement of Drake’s 2023 tour with the beatific look most associated with the second half of the ubiquitous Drake meme.
The Canadian singer/rapper will kick off the It’s All a Blur Tour in New Orleans on June 16, and will be at TD Garden in Boston for two shows, on Tuesday, July 11, and Wednesday, July 12. Twenty-nine dates have been announced so far, with additional shows, including in Drake’s hometown of Toronto, slated to be announced later.
The four-time Grammy winner will tour on the strength of two albums he released last year, “Honestly, Nevermind” and “Her Loss,” the latter being a collaboration with 21 Savage, who will join him on the 2023 outing. But given that Drake hasn’t toured since 2018, when he stopped at the Garden for three shows that September, this year’s run is expected to be retrospective in nature, “a celebration of the last decade,” Variety reported.
Presales will be available through Cash App and Sprite beginning Wednesday, March 15, and general sales will start Friday.
